Another collection

I'm trying to stay away from my favourite thrift store but I could not resist this tea towel to add to my collection, which by the way is the hardest working of all my collections.

Pottery collection

It all started with a gift of a salad bowl almost twenty years ago and since then my Vallance pottery collection has taken over my kitchen. Quite a few pieces I have found at garage sales and thrift stores.Obviously, they did not appreciate the simple beauty of this pottery.

For A

These floral postcards are for my dear friend, Audrey, just to help her feel a little better.

Around town

Just a few of my favourite spots around town.

Another bag

I will make a bag out of just about anything, especially if I can recycle or repurpose an item such as a tea towel, a tablecloth, a skirt, or even a napkin. Such was the case for the bag I made this weekend- the bag is a little smaller then the ones I usually make but it's still a good size for shopping. Used all three napkins that I found at a thrift store and lined the bag with cotton fabric from my stash.

Weekend stuff

The mornings are nice and cool and by afternoon the sun is hot. It turned out to be a good weekend, picked more tomatoes, cooked up some sauce, froze four containers of parsley, washed three pillows worth of wool, and tried out a Barefoot Contessa recipe for apple crostata. It's way too rich so I don't think I will make it again.

Talked to my friend- her father's passing was in her words, "..beautiful, peaceful with no struggle."
Glad that she was there to help and witness and say goodbye.

Aberdeen walk

We are always searching for a place to have a quiet morning walk. This morning, for the first time, we had a very enjoyable walk in the Aberdeen Hills. The roar of the traffic far below us was still discernible but Valodya did not have to use his earplug (bonus) ; walking is great but walking and talking is much sweeter.

All alone

Yesterday at my favourite thrift store, I came across this lonely but beautiful sugar bowl; no lid, no companion creamer, just the sugar bowl. I brought it home and have yet to decide what role it will play in my kitchen or craft room.

Sad but glad

It was a very short time ago that a good friend introduced me to one of her good friends. And just the other day, I found out that she suddenly passed away last week. It was very quick, one minute she was here, always with a smile, a helping hand, a generous soul. I was very saddened at her passing, but glad that I had the chance to meet such a giving person.
