Oh Happy Day!

Another hot day but we managed to stay cool at the water park. A run through the fountains kept us refreshed and lunch in the shade tasted oh so good!
It was a great day; all we had to do was look at the birthday girl's face.

He's ok!

One of the many reasons we bought this house was the huge picture windows upstairs and down. But when we hear the big thud as a bird hits the glass, we feel awful. This guy rested for a few minutes and then flew off.

Ferrari

What is red, fast, and Italian? A Ferrari, of course. No, I did not go out on a shopping spree and come home with a 250 GT Berlinetta.
I found these two Ferrari plates at my favourite junk store. These will be carefully broken and added to my birdbath mosaic. Nothing but the best for my birds.

Okanagan Boy

A friend invited us to share in the bounty of her old apricot tree. The tree is decades old but this year it was loaded with peach-size fruit.

Mr. Cowboy agrees to do all the picking; he is well acquainted with ladders and buckets. As a teenager in the Okanagan, it was the fastest way to make money. Not for saving in a bank but to spend; first on bikes, then motorcycles, and then cars.

That adds up to a lot of trees, ladders, and buckets. Most of the year he's still Mr. Cowboy, but Okanagan Boy shows up for a few weeks every summer to do what he does best.

We tried to make apricot jam but we skimped on the sugar so we ended up with five jars of apricot syrup.
But it's the best syrup we've had in a long time.
