Our neighbours down the street are both gone but the shrub in their front yard still keeps blooming.
To take my quilt to the long-arm quilter's house is a nice drive along the river, past hobby farms with tiny lambs sleeping in the field, a lone bull corralled in a muddy enclosure, and an old apple orchard.
This is the pile of selvages that I have been saving for a while; this is a before and after picture because after making a bag using some of the selvages I could not tell that any had been used.
But it was fun making the bag; I used the instructions from 'The Feisty Stitcher' by Susan Wasinger.
And for the inside I went totally wild and lined the bag with huge daisies.
Could not resist making a shopping bag with the garlic fabric for someone who is nuts about garlic and has worked on a garlic farm.
As soon as we saw this fabric, we knew it was perfect to make into a bag for Maura's mentor teacher.
Picture this; Rimini, Italy 2010.It is 8:30 at night, we are tired and hungry but luckily come across a restaurant that is featured in our Lonely Planet book. It is called Pic Nic and outside by the front door they have a garden bench covered in plastic pillows full of corks. So this is my version, albeit a much smaller pillow because I only had 543 corks in my collection. We all tried sitting on the cork-filled pillow and everyone agreed to how comfy it is.
The recipe card for these cookies is so oil splattered that I can barely read it, I don't even remember where I got the recipe from but I have been making these chocolate chip cookies for thirty years and they are the best. I think what makes these so great is the combination of corn flakes, oats, and lots of chocolate chips.
