Okanagan Boy

A friend invited us to share in the bounty of her old apricot tree. The tree is decades old but this year it was loaded with peach-size fruit.

Mr. Cowboy agrees to do all the picking; he is well acquainted with ladders and buckets. As a teenager in the Okanagan, it was the fastest way to make money. Not for saving in a bank but to spend; first on bikes, then motorcycles, and then cars.

That adds up to a lot of trees, ladders, and buckets. Most of the year he's still Mr. Cowboy, but Okanagan Boy shows up for a few weeks every summer to do what he does best.

We tried to make apricot jam but we skimped on the sugar so we ended up with five jars of apricot syrup.
But it's the best syrup we've had in a long time.
