Only once a year?

They are always there if we care to "see". They are always there if we take the time to look down the alley as we hurry by. They are always there under the overpass as we drive along. But once a year we feel generous (guilty) and donate to the many charities setup to help those whose lives have not turned out as they hoped. Once a year we share our abundance, writing cheques, filling food bank boxes, and emptying our pockets of change at the sound of the bells on every street corner. Once a year we give, and we give big in the hopes that by doing so it will wipe out the fact that the rest of the year we ignore those around us who need our help, every day not just once a year.
