Cooking lessons
Red peppers in tomato sauce on homemade bread.
Fresh egg noodles in a cream and bacon sauce with lots of garlic and red chili flakes.
I tried a new recipe to use up some old bananas; Banana Chocolate Chip Cake with sour cream from Bon Appetit. This is a really rich cake.
Pork stew with potatoes, asparagus (from Armstrong), carrots, celery, and onions with a splash of tomato sauce to finish it off.

Heading North
Having travelled this same route many times, it is hard to find new vistas to photograph especially when you are on the bus. But I do love this driftwood sculpture at the Bear Claw Lodge.
And, of course, here is the bear at the Bear Claw Lodge.
This golf course is miles away from the bus depot in Williams Lake but my trusty Canon PowerShotSX200IS zoomed right in on the fountain.
And I love the worn patina on one of the storage containers at the same depot.
In Quesnel it was a quick stop but I managed to find a rose bush. And took a quick shot of the top of the Billy Barker Hotel.

Lunch and a show
This guy stopped feeding as soon as I started taking pictures. I managed these three through the window before he took off with his lunch. I think this is a Northern Goshawk.

Colourful Sunday
Great way to start the morning; Blueberry Buttermilk Muffins with Brown Butter, recipe from my good friend Mary Ann. Thus fortified we trekked up Humphrey Road to Monarch up the hill to Robson, down the hill to Gleneagles and back home.
This isn't the first time we have had breakfast for dinner alla Shirley
Valentine. Eggs and chips are great but we kicked it up a notch with these Maple-Glazed Pork Meatballs. The apple, garlic, and fennel seeds are what make these little orbs so good. Recipe is from "Breakfast for Dinner" by Lindsay Landis and Taylor Hackbarth.
I thought we had had enough asparagus but after tasting this wonderful spring vegetable from Armstrong we will be eating it until this harvest is done.
As usual, I have started a pot of basil and it literally sprouted overnight, that is how hot it is in our kitchen bump-out. Pesto, pesto, do your very besto.....

Orange and black
After spending all afternoon in my studio cutting and sewing strips on the butterfly quilt, we took a break and went downtown for a Cowboy coffee. On the way home we stopped by the BC Lions training camp and watched a scrimmage between the old and new players.

Blue and orange
It is just past 8 in the morning and already the sun is blasting heat like a furnace. A little surprise for me as I walk through the garden; in the sea of blue flax, three poppies have bloomed from the hundreds of seeds that I scattered last fall.
